Gujarat unveiled four revamped railway stations, namely Pratapnagar, Godhra, Porbandar, and Bhaktinagar, as part of the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. These stations, with a total cost of Rs 109 crore, were inaugurated virtually by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, bringing the tally of refurbished stations in the state to 22. The virtual event saw Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel attending the ceremony at Pratapnagar Railway Station in Vadodara.
The redevelopment initiative, aimed at modernizing Indian Railways, included the unveiling of 75 railway stations nationwide. Chief Minister Patel, before the official ceremony, visited an exhibition highlighting the transformation of Pratapnagar Railway Station into a contemporary passenger facility with enhanced infrastructure and amenities. The addition of Pratapnagar, Godhra, Porbandar, and Bhaktinagar stations has increased the count of redeveloped Amrit Bharat Stations in Gujarat to 22.
The state government noted that Prime Minister Modi had previously inaugurated 18 redeveloped railway stations in Gujarat last year under the same scheme. Currently, redevelopment work is ongoing at 87 more railway stations in Gujarat as part of the continuous implementation of the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, focusing on enhancing railway infrastructure and passenger services. The event at Pratapnagar Railway Station was graced by various dignitaries, including Minister of State Manisha Vakil, Gujarat Legislative Assembly Chief Whip Balkrishna Shukla, and Member of Parliament Hemang Joshi.
