Gujarat Agriculture Minister Jitu Vaghani praised the state’s agricultural governance for its transparency, financial aid, and swift decision-making on farmer issues. He mentioned the successful implementation of the PM-Kisan scheme, benefiting over 51 lakh farmers in Gujarat with Rs 1,025 crore directly transferred to their bank accounts.
Vaghani emphasized the national impact of the scheme, which has supported more than 11 crore farmer families in India with over Rs 4.50 lakh crore disbursed since its launch in 2019. Eligible farmers receive Rs 6,000 annually in three instalments to cover essential agricultural expenses like seeds and fertilizers.
The minister highlighted Gujarat’s significant support initiatives for farmers, including subsidies for agricultural mechanization, relief packages during natural disasters, and procurement operations at minimum support prices. These measures have collectively provided around Rs 25,000 crore in support through various assistance programs.
Vaghani also mentioned the state’s efforts to enhance modern farming practices by offering subsidies for farming equipment and improving storage infrastructure. He underscored the Chief Minister’s active involvement in addressing agricultural issues promptly and ensuring that farmer concerns are resolved urgently, even during late-night discussions.
