Gandhinagar, Aug 3 (IANS) The Gujarat Legislative Assembly will convene for its ninth session from September 8 to 10, with Governor Acharya Devvrat issuing the notification calling the House into session on Monday.

The three-day monsoon session will begin at 12 noon on Tuesday, September 8, at the Assembly Building in Gandhinagar, according to the official notification published in the Extraordinary Gazette of the state government.

Announcing the schedule, Gujarat Assembly Speaker Shankar Chaudhary said the session would transact government business over three days, including government Bills, the proposal for the first day of the sitting and other items approved by the Business Advisory Committee.

“Today, the Governor of Gujarat, Acharya Devvrat, has convened the ninth session of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly. The session will be held from 8, 9 and 10 September. During the session, government business, government Bills, the proposal for the first day, and other matters as decided by the Business Advisory Committee will be taken up over these three days,” Chaudhary said.

The Speaker also announced that legislators would be able to submit constituency-related questions for consideration during the session.

“During this session, Members of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly will be able to raise issues concerning their respective constituencies. From today, following the convening of the session, they will also be able to submit their questions online for one week (August 11). These questions may be taken up for discussion during the Question Hour,” he said.

Question Hour is one of the principal accountability mechanisms in the Assembly, allowing members to seek information from the government on matters concerning public administration and constituency issues.

Gujarat has also adopted the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA), allowing legislators to submit notices and questions digitally as part of the Assembly’s paperless legislative system.

The detailed agenda of the three-day sitting will be finalised by the Business Advisory Committee before the session begins.

Along with legislative business and government Bills, members are expected to use the session to raise issues affecting their constituencies through debates and Question Hour in accordance with the Assembly’s rules of procedure.
