The Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) and the Indian Coast Guard collaborated to intercept an Iranian speedboat nearly 140 nautical miles off the Porbandar coast. The operation, lasting eight to 10 hours, resulted in the seizure of 203 kilograms of a suspected narcotic substance. Specific intelligence led to the interception of the boat, which was carrying two Iranian nationals and 203 packets of the substance.
Officials received information that an Iranian drug smuggler had dispatched the suspicious substance from Konarak Port in Iran. The consignment was intended for delivery near the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) off Porbandar, with plans for onward transport to Punjab. A joint team of the ATS and the Coast Guard launched an operation in the Arabian Sea based on this intelligence.
The intercepted speedboat, carrying Abdul Majid and Abdul Sattar from Iran, was found with 203 packets of a white suspected narcotic substance. The operation, guided by precise intelligence, led to the recovery of the substance, which has been sent for detailed examination at the Forensic Science Laboratory. The accused individuals and the vessel have been taken to the Porbandar Coast Guard station for further legal action.
