The Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) apprehended Faizan Shaikh from Navsari on suspicion of planning targeted killings to incite fear. Shaikh, hailing from Charpul in Navsari district, was detained on January 25. Investigations reveal his alleged radicalization by extremist groups like Jaish-e-Mohammed and Al-Qaeda, with connections to radical elements through online platforms.
Authorities found that Shaikh had acquired illegal weapons and explosives for potential attacks on specific individuals. Recovered during his arrest, these materials were intended for spreading terror. The ATS is conducting thorough interrogations to uncover any potential accomplices and financial networks supporting Shaikh’s activities.
In response to the arrest, security measures have been heightened in Navsari and South Gujarat. Officials are closely examining all possible links to the arms and ammunition, cooperating with intelligence units. This incident follows a recent operation where three individuals, including Ahmed Mohiyuddin Saiyed from Hyderabad, were arrested for alleged terror plans in different regions.
