Two employees of a businessman from Gujarat were robbed by a gang in Kolkata while supposedly conducting a business deal. The culprits took away Rs 42 lakh from the employees and then kidnapped them, forcing them into a car. The victims were later dumped on the Kona Expressway in Howrah district.
The robbery occurred in the Survey Park area of South Kolkata. The businessman filed a complaint at the Survey Park police station, leading to the registration of a case involving robbery and kidnapping. Police are currently investigating the incident and reviewing CCTV footage to identify the perpetrators.
The incident transpired in the first week of the month. The businessman from Gandhinagar, Gujarat, had been contacted by individuals from Kolkata for a business transaction. The suspects, posing as businessmen, discussed sending goods from Kolkata to Gujarat with the businessman. Subsequently, the businessman sent Rs 42 lakh to Kolkata through his two employees.
Upon arrival in Kolkata, the employees were taken to a house in the New Santoshpur area, where they were asked to hand over the cash. However, they demanded the promised goods in return. The employees were then confined in a room by around six armed men who seized the money at gunpoint. The victims were later abandoned on the Kona Expressway by the culprits.
After returning to Gujarat, the employees informed their employer about the incident. The businessman then lodged a complaint with the police in Kolkata. Authorities are now working to locate the house in Survey Park where the employees were held captive. They are also trying to track down the culprits using contact numbers and CCTV footage from Kolkata and Howrah.
