The Gujarat Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, honored the late Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Manjalpur MLA Yogesh Patel, expressing deep sorrow over his passing. Patel, fondly known as “Yogesh Kaka,” was a revered figure in Vadodara, having served as an MLA for eight terms and holding various ministerial positions. He passed away at the age of 79 after battling a prolonged illness, leaving behind a legacy of dedicated service to the people.
Government spokesperson Jitu Vaghani praised Patel’s unwavering commitment to his constituents, highlighting his accessibility and simplicity in public service. Known for his strong connect with the electorate, Patel was a respected political stalwart in Gujarat, winning the trust of voters election after election. His significant contributions to Vadodara’s civic development, particularly in areas like water supply, roads, and drainage infrastructure, were acknowledged by the Cabinet.
Reflecting on Patel’s deep religious ties to Lord Shiva, the Cabinet noted his active role in promoting Vadodara’s identity as “Shivnagari” and organizing religious events. Throughout his illustrious career, Patel remained dedicated to addressing local issues and engaging with the city’s social and cultural fabric. His demise has triggered an outpouring of tributes from political leaders across Gujarat, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailing him as a genuine leader of the people.
