Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has made a significant decision to provide government land free of cost to municipalities in towns and cities across the state for public welfare projects. This move aims to enhance transparency in urban administration and ensure timely delivery of essential amenities to citizens. Municipalities in Gujarat will now receive free land for developing 11 types of crucial infrastructure facilities, reducing their financial burden.

This decision by Chief Minister Patel will exempt around 152 municipalities from paying 25 to 50 per cent of the market value or ‘jantri’ rates previously required for acquiring government land. The simplified and streamlined land allotment process is expected to facilitate quicker implementation of development projects. The initiative is poised to boost citizen-centric development efforts and provide a fresh impetus to urban development in Gujarat.

The allocation of free government land to municipalities for public utility and welfare projects underscores a citizen-centric approach adopted by the Bhupendra Patel government. This initiative aims to ensure easy access to essential civic facilities such as fire stations, water treatment plants, sewerage systems, and education centers. By easing the financial burden on municipalities, the move is set to accelerate the pace of development projects and enhance urban development in the state.

Citizens in Gujarat are anticipated to benefit from improved access to vital services like water supply, education, healthcare, and sanitation as a result of this initiative. The people-centric decision by the Gujarat government is expected to contribute to the holistic development of the state and enhance the overall well-being of the populace.
