Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, speaking at the ‘Somnath Amrut Parv’ commemorating 75 years since the reconstruction of Somnath Temple, praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for bolstering cultural nationalism and the revival of Sanatan Hindu cultural consciousness. Patel highlighted the temple’s significance as a symbol of India’s faith, resilience, and civilizational continuity, emphasizing how past attempts to destroy it only led to a stronger resurgence.
Patel lauded the temple of Bhagwan Somnath as a representation of the nation’s faith, culture, and unwavering spirit, noting that its reconstruction post-Independence marked a pivotal moment in India’s cultural assertion. He also acknowledged Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s vision in rebuilding the shrine, considering it a historic milestone in the country’s journey.
Drawing parallels between current initiatives and cultural rejuvenation, Patel commended PM Modi for prioritizing heritage in governance, citing projects like the Kashi Vishwanath Temple, Kedarnath Temple, and the transformation of Ayodhya as integral to preserving heritage while enhancing pilgrimage-related economic activities. The event included ceremonial honors for Modi, who received symbolic gifts representing the temple’s heritage and a traditional welcome by State Agriculture Minister Jitu Vaghani.
