Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has urged Irish businesses to consider investing in the state, citing the potential for economic collaboration under the proposed India-European Union Free Trade Agreement. During a meeting with Patrick Duffy, Consul General of Ireland, at the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference in Vadodara, Patel emphasized the opportunities for trade and investment between Gujarat and Ireland.
In a social media post following the meeting, Patel highlighted the discussions with Duffy focused on enhancing economic ties and exploring growth prospects in various sectors. He encouraged Irish companies to explore the vast investment and trade possibilities in Gujarat, especially with the upcoming India-EU FTA expected to open new avenues for cooperation.
The Chief Minister also mentioned plans to expand collaboration beyond trade and investment to include areas such as technology, skill development, and sports diplomacy. By strengthening ties with Ireland, Gujarat aims to solidify its position as an attractive global investment hub and foster mutual growth opportunities.
The engagement between the Gujarat government and foreign diplomatic representatives, including the Consul General of Ireland, is part of the ongoing Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference. This event aims to facilitate discussions on regional industrial development, international partnerships, and sector-specific investments, leading up to the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit in January 2027.
