Gujarat recently finished recruiting 54,509 police officers over the past decade, as stated by Director General of Police G.S. Malik. At an event in Gandhinagar, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel handed appointment letters to 449 newly recruited Police Sub-Inspectors (PSI).
Malik highlighted that this extensive recruitment drive has bolstered law enforcement by filling positions from Police Constable to Police Sub-Inspector. He mentioned ongoing recruitment for an additional 13,591 posts for the 2026-27 period, showcasing the government’s commitment to enhancing the police force.
Congratulating the new officers, Malik praised their high level of education and technological skills. He commended the families of the recruits for their support in achieving this milestone and emphasized the importance of dedication, discipline, and integrity in their profession.
Malik commended the Gujarat Police Recruitment Board for conducting a transparent and fair recruitment process under the leadership of Chairperson Neerja Gotru. He expressed confidence that the new generation of Police Sub-Inspectors would contribute to the force’s strength through patriotism, ethical behavior, and technological proficiency.
Gotru disclosed that over 4.6 lakh candidates applied for 472 Unarmed PSI posts in the 2024-25 recruitment cycle. The selection process involved physical tests, written exams, document verification, and medical assessments to ensure transparency and fairness.
The event also featured the launch of new training materials by the Gujarat Police Academy covering various aspects of law enforcement. Additionally, an in-house e-module developed by the Police Department was introduced during the ceremony attended by top officials and dignitaries.
