Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi has declared a strong stance against drug trafficking in the state. Following the seizure of over seven kilograms of methamphetamine valued at Rs 14.16 crore by Ahmedabad police, Sanghavi emphasized a policy of “zero tolerance” and “zero compromise” towards such illegal activities.
The intercepted consignment, allegedly sourced from Jaipur and en route to Mumbai, was halted by Gujarat Police. This incident highlights the government’s firm commitment to combating drug trafficking. The operation, led by Naroda Police based on specific intelligence, resulted in the arrest of an alleged drug courier.
The accused, identified as Mohamadsajid Mohamadusman Sheikh, was apprehended with 7,084 grams of methamphetamine. The total value of the seized property, including cash and personal belongings, amounted to Rs 14.16 crore. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Naroda Police Station.
Authorities are now focused on tracing the origins of the methamphetamine, investigating its intended route, and dismantling any associated networks. Sanghavi’s statements reflect the state government’s unwavering commitment to combatting drug trafficking and disrupting supply chains across Gujarat.
