Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi revealed that 2,792 memoranda of understanding (MoUs) valued at Rs 3.53 lakh crore were agreed upon during the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference in Surat. These projects are anticipated to create employment opportunities for over 2.82 lakh youths in the next three years.
Sanghavi emphasized the significance of the conference in highlighting South Gujarat’s industrial potential to both the nation and the world. He stressed the government’s commitment to benefit not only large industrialists but also small traders and entrepreneurs, ensuring that the advantages of such gatherings reach grassroots levels.
Furthermore, Sanghavi announced the introduction of ‘open door meetings’ in future regional conferences to promptly address concerns of existing industrialists. This initiative aims to facilitate direct interactions between responsible government officials and industrialists for on-the-spot issue resolution.
The Deputy Chief Minister also mentioned the state government’s efforts to expedite incentive clearances, with daily application approvals expected to surpass 500 soon, doubling from the previous rate of 199. Additionally, initiatives to boost non-polluting industries and the garment sector in tribal districts like Dang, Tapi, Valsad, and Navsari were highlighted.
Sanghavi credited the Vibrant Gujarat initiative, initiated in 2003 by then Chief Minister Narendra Modi, for playing a pivotal role in the state’s economic growth, with Gujarat’s GDP soaring from Rs 1.29 lakh crore to Rs 27.09 lakh crore. He commended the collaborative efforts of ‘Team Gujarat’ and the business community in sustaining this growth despite challenges over the past two decades.
Encouraging a forward-thinking approach among industrialists and investors, Sanghavi assured full government support in expanding global reach and facilitating necessary arrangements. He underscored that the discussions and sectoral dialogues held during the conference would serve as valuable guidance for industry stakeholders.
As the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference concluded, Deputy CM Sanghavi invited industrial units, young entrepreneurs, and citizens to explore the industrial exhibition running alongside the event until May 5. The conference also included various meetings, seminars, and awards recognizing outstanding MSE and MSME units, as well as honoring handicraft artisans.
