Gujarat’s Director General of Police, G.S. Malik, emphasized the state government’s commitment to addressing citizens’ grievances at the district level, aiming to reduce the necessity for people to travel to Gandhinagar for solutions.
During a surprise inspection of the Home Department’s Public Relations Centre and the Public Relations Office at Police Bhavan in Gandhinagar, Malik assessed the efficiency of the citizen grievance system and directly engaged with individuals submitting representations. The evaluation concentrated on understanding the types of complaints received, challenges faced by citizens, and the districts with the highest representation submissions.
Malik highlighted the importance of strengthening local grievance redressal mechanisms to enable citizens to seek justice closer to their homes. He mentioned ongoing efforts by the Home Department to establish a more efficient system that eliminates the need for citizens to travel long distances to Gandhinagar for grievance resolution.
The police administration, under Malik’s leadership, has implemented measures to ensure the swift, transparent, and fair handling of complaints. Additionally, the state is working towards enhancing the citizen-centric approach at the district level to improve accessibility, responsiveness, and accountability within the police system.
