Gujarat’s Director General of Police, K. L. N. Rao, testified in a 2021 Anti-Corruption Bureau case through video conferencing from Gandhinagar to a Kutch court. The testimony, regarding prosecution sanction, was recorded remotely using the court’s video conferencing setup. This digital system aims to streamline judicial processes and reduce the need for physical travel.
The use of video conferencing allowed Rao to participate from Gandhinagar, avoiding the long journey to Kutch. This initiative not only saves time but also cuts down on fuel and logistics costs. It forms part of a broader strategy to enhance efficiency in court proceedings and ease the burden on witnesses and officers.
Rao emphasized the importance of leveraging technology in legal processes, citing its role in saving time, energy, and national resources. He encouraged wider adoption of video conferencing facilities by all stakeholders involved in legal proceedings. Additionally, Rao chaired a virtual statewide meeting to discuss security measures for the upcoming Bakri Eid festival.
Law enforcement officials were directed to monitor social media for rumors, enhance policing in sensitive areas, and ensure robust security arrangements during the festival. Traffic management plans and emergency response readiness were also reviewed to ensure a safe and peaceful festival period.
