Gujarat Giants have named Randhir Singh Sehrawat, a seasoned kabaddi tactician, as their new head coach for the upcoming Pro Kabaddi League season. Sehrawat, known for his strategic prowess, brings over ten years of coaching experience in the PKL, having led teams to success, including a championship win in Season 6 and six playoff appearances.
Referred to as the “Chanakya of Kabaddi,” Sehrawat’s illustrious career spans decades, earning him the prestigious Arjuna Award. He has not only excelled in the PKL but also made a mark in the domestic kabaddi scene, notably with the Indian Railways kabaddi setup.
Sehrawat, who previously coached both the men’s and women’s teams at Indian Railways, has steered them to multiple national championship victories, establishing himself as a top kabaddi mentor in the country.
Before venturing into coaching, Sehrawat had a successful playing career with the Indian national team, participating in key tournaments such as the Asian Kabaddi Championship and the South Asian Games. His international achievements culminated at the 1990 Asian Games, where he clinched the gold medal as the vice-captain.
Expressing his excitement about the new role, Sehrawat stated, “I’m thrilled to be back in the Pro Kabaddi League and thankful to Adani Sportsline for this opportunity. Gujarat Giants boasts a talented roster, and I am eager to collaborate with the team towards clinching the title.”
