Gujarat Giants (GG) head coach Michael Klinger expressed confidence in the team’s prospects for the upcoming 2026 Women’s Premier League (WPL). The franchise, owned by Adani Sportsline, is gearing up to kick off their campaign against UP Warriorz at the DY Patil Stadium this Saturday afternoon.

Having made it to the playoffs for the first time in the 2025 WPL, GG has diligently trained during the pre-season camp in Mumbai and aims to capitalize on their progress in the new season. Klinger emphasized the importance of a strong start in the tournament to boost team morale and performance.

Klinger emphasized the team’s dual focus on winning the competition and nurturing player development. He highlighted the goal of enhancing each player’s skills throughout the tournament, aiming for individual growth alongside team success.

The coach praised the squad’s depth, particularly noting the abundance of all-rounders that will create healthy competition for team spots. Klinger mentioned the challenge of selecting the best XI due to the squad’s strong pool of players, especially high-quality all-rounders.

Klinger also lauded the addition of overseas players like Sophie Devine and Kim Garth, enhancing the team’s strength. With a roster of six overseas players, the coach anticipates tough decisions in finalizing the starting lineup, given the high caliber of all players.

Highlighting the promise of young Indian talent in the team, Klinger mentioned players like Anushka Sharma, Ayushi Soni, Titas, Happy, Bharti, and Shivani. He praised their skills and potential contributions, emphasizing the opportunities for these players to shine during various stages of the WPL.
