Gujarat Giants (GG) moved up to the second spot in the 2026 Women’s Premier League (WPL) standings after defeating UP Warriorz (UPW) by 45 runs at the BCA Stadium in Vadodara. Sophie Devine’s unbeaten 42-ball fifty and Rajeshwari Gayakwad’s 3-16 spell were instrumental in GG’s victory, ending their three-match losing streak.
UPW faced early setbacks as Kiran Navgire was stumped for a duck, and despite some boundaries from Phoebe Litchfield and Meg Lanning, they struggled to build momentum. UPW lost wickets in quick succession, with GG’s bowlers dominating the game.
Rajeshwari’s crucial wickets, including trapping Deepti Sharma lbw and having Shweta Sehrawat stumped, further dented UPW’s innings. GG’s strong performance continued as they dismissed UPW’s batters one by one, sealing the win with a comprehensive display.
Sophie Devine’s impactful innings, supported by contributions from Beth Mooney and others, guided GG past the 150-run mark. Despite a disciplined bowling effort from UPW, GG managed to secure a competitive total, ultimately securing the win and climbing the league table.
