Gujarat Giants (GG) advanced from the bottom to the second spot in the 2026 Women’s Premier League (WPL) standings after defeating UP Warriorz (UPW) by 45 runs at the BCA Stadium in Kotambi, Vadodara. Sophie Devine’s unbeaten 42-ball fifty led GG to a total of 153/8 on a slow pitch. Rajeshwari Gayakwad and Sophie also contributed with crucial wickets as UPW struggled and were bowled out for 108 in 17.3 overs.
In the UP Warriorz innings, the team faced early setbacks as Kiran Navgire was stumped for a duck off a wide ball. Despite some boundaries from Phoebe Litchfield and Meg Lanning, UPW lost wickets at regular intervals. Kashvee Gautam’s dismissal of Meg for 14 marked a turning point as UPW reached 46/2 by the end of the power-play.
UPW’s innings further faltered with quick successions of wickets. Phoebe’s dismissal for 32, followed by Harleen Deol’s departure, tilted the game in GG’s favor. Rajeshwari’s crucial wickets further dented UPW’s chances, leading to their downfall as GG sealed a convincing victory.
The match concluded with Gujarat Giants posting 153/8 in 20 overs, with Sophie Devine’s unbeaten half-century standing out, while UP Warriorz managed only 108 all out in 17.3 overs, resulting in a 45-run win for GG.
