The Gujarat government has given the green light to road development projects totaling Rs 1,185 crore in five districts of South Gujarat. These projects aim to enhance logistics connectivity and bolster the long-term growth of the Surat Economic Region (SER). Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel sanctioned 24 projects for road widening and improvement, covering approximately 383 kilometers in Surat, Tapi, Valsad, Navsari, and Dang districts.
The initiative seeks to enhance connectivity among industrial clusters, ports, and logistics hubs in the region, facilitating integration into global supply chains. The development plan for the SER is inspired by renowned international trading hubs like Dubai and Guangzhou, with a vision to elevate Surat’s significance in global trade and reduce the distance to global markets.
Funds have been allocated across the five districts, with Surat receiving the largest share of Rs 631 crore, reflecting its pivotal role in the region’s economic landscape. Valsad district has been granted Rs 264 crore, while the remaining funds will be utilized for projects in Navsari, Tapi, and Dang districts.
