The Gujarat government recently implemented a significant administrative overhaul, transferring and appointing a total of 28 Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers and 13 Gujarat Administrative Service (GAS) Class-I officers. These changes span various crucial departments, urban local bodies, district administrations, and state-run corporations. The General Administration Department issued notifications on July 21 outlining the reshuffle, which involved key positions like municipal commissioners, district development officers, and heads of state corporations.
Gaurang Makwana, who previously served as the Director of the Gujarat Energy Development Agency (GEDA) while holding additional responsibilities as the Managing Director of Uttar Gujarat Vij Company Ltd. (UGVCL), has now been appointed as the full-time Managing Director of UGVCL. Additionally, D.K. Patel, previously in the Commissionerate of Geology and Mining, has assumed the role of Director of GEDA.
Among the notable changes, Prabhav Joshi, the Municipal Commissioner of Junagadh Municipal Corporation, has been reassigned as the Joint Managing Director of the Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC). In Junagadh, I.R. Vala, who previously served as the Secretary of the Sports Authority of Gujarat, will take over as the new Municipal Commissioner.
H.J. Prajapati has transitioned from Porbandar Municipal Corporation to the position of District Development Officer (DDO) in Amreli. Simultaneously, Suthar Raj Rameshchandra, the Chief Executive Officer of the Surat Urban Development Authority (SUDA), has been appointed as the Municipal Commissioner of Porbandar Municipal Corporation. The reshuffle also includes changes among District Development Officers (DDOs) like Smit Lodha, DDO of Dahod, who has been appointed as the Deputy Municipal Commissioner of Surat Municipal Corporation.
K.P. Joshi, D.K. Brahmbhatt, and K.S. Jhala have been assigned as DDOs of Devbhumi Dwarka, Gandhinagar, and Dangs-Ahwa, respectively. Furthermore, M.P. Pandya, the Registrar of Co-operative Societies, has been appointed as the Managing Director of Gujarat Medical Services Corporation Ltd., replacing D.K. Brahmbhatt, who has been transferred to Gandhinagar district administration.
In the power sector, K.J. Rathod and M.D. Chudasma have taken on new roles as Managing Directors of Dakshin Gujarat Vij Company Ltd. (DGVCL), Surat, and Pashchim Gujarat Vij Company Ltd. (PGVCL), Rajkot, respectively. Additionally, Mahesh Jani, the Chairman of the Gujarat State Social Welfare Board, has been appointed as the Mission Director of the Gujarat Urban Livelihood Mission.
C.B. Ganatra and B.H. Patel have been posted as Managing Directors of the Gujarat State Civil Supplies Corporation and the Gujarat Scheduled Castes Development Corporation, respectively. Other appointments include M.K. Joshi as Chief Executive Officer of the Development Support Agency of Gujarat (D-SAG), A.K. Joshi as Managing Director of the Gujarat Unreserved Educational and Economical Development Corporation, R.N. Kuchara as Regional Commissioner of Municipalities in Rajkot, C.A. Gandhi as Regional Commissioner of Municipalities in Vadodara, and P.B. Rathod as Director of Skill Development.
The government has also retained the services of B.N. Patel as the Executive Director of Gujarat Gas Limited and V.K. Jadav as the Director of Developing Castes Welfare. In a separate notification, 13 Gujarat Administrative Service (GAS) officers were transferred to new positions. Notable appointments include V.K. Patel as Executive Director of the Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation, A.K. Prajapati as Director of the District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) in Arvalli-Modasa, and D.N. Satani as Joint Director of the Directorate of Civil Supplies.
G.V. Miyani, Y.S. Chaudhari, A.K. Kalsariya, M.R. Prajapati, K.S. Dabhi, D.M. Gohil, and A.A. Dodiya have also assumed various roles within different departments and organizations. Lastly, P.C. Dave and B.R. Ahir have exchanged positions, with Dave becoming the Deputy Municipal Commissioner of Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation and Ahir taking on the role of Officer on Special Duty in the Office of the Commissioner of Transport. Kum. K.B. Patel has been appointed as the Additional Director of the Commissioner of Geology and Mining in Gandhinagar.
