The Gujarat government has mandated that the main department involved will be responsible for resolving public grievances that span multiple departments. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel emphasized the need to expedite processes and enhance accountability during the State SWAGAT public grievance redressal program. Patel urged officials to ensure prompt, transparent, and time-bound resolution of citizens’ applications by district-level authorities and government departments.
Reviewing the grievances addressed in this month’s State SWAGAT program, Patel directed district administrations to handle applications locally when feasible and promptly forward matters within the state government’s jurisdiction. He stressed that delays due to inter-departmental coordination should not inconvenience applicants.
During the state-level online grievance redressal program, the Chief Minister interacted with citizens presenting their concerns. More than 120 applicants visited the Chief Minister’s Office Public Relations Unit to submit their grievances. The June session of State SWAGAT was rescheduled to accommodate a state-wide school enrollment drive from June 23 to 25.
A total of 5,200 representations from State, District, and Taluka SWAGAT platforms were forwarded for necessary action. These included issues such as rehabilitation land disputes, encroachments on grazing land, and discrepancies from land re-surveys. Farmers from Chhota Udepur and Mehsana districts highlighted their grievances directly to the Chief Minister.
In response to a Chhota Udepur farmer’s complaint about delayed land allotment under a rehabilitation package, Patel instructed immediate action by the Irrigation Department. Another farmer from Mehsana district raised concerns about reduced land area post re-survey, prompting Patel to direct swift corrective measures. Patel also intervened in an encroachment case on grazing land in Visnagar taluka, instructing immediate removal.
The Chief Minister underscored the pivotal role of district collectors in resolving local issues and ensuring timely redressal of public grievances. Senior officials, including Additional Chief Secretary Sanjeev Kumar and Secretary Dr. Ajay Kumar, attended the program along with district collectors and administrative officials.
