The Gujarat government has raised financial assistance significantly for leveling free residential plots allocated to rural homeless families. The support per plot has been increased fivefold, from Rs 1,000 to Rs 5,000. Additionally, assistance for leveling uneven land designated for free residential plots in village sites has been raised fourfold, from Rs 50,000 to Rs 2 lakh per hectare.
The state government aims to reduce the cost of land preparation for construction, especially in villages where plots require development before houses can be constructed. A resolution was issued by the Panchayat, Rural Housing, and Rural Development Department on July 17, approving the enhanced assistance under the guidance of Minister Rushikesh Patel and Minister of State, Sanjaysinh Mahida.
This decision aligns with the government’s efforts to advance the ‘Housing for All’ initiative. The increased financial aid is expected to offer more substantial support to rural homeless families and expedite the construction of permanent homes. For years, the state government has been providing free residential plots measuring 100 square yards to rural homeless families.
