The Gujarat government has instructed all offices, institutions, universities, and corporations under the state Agriculture Department to install solar rooftop systems. This directive follows Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call to promote green energy and reduce fuel consumption. Agriculture Minister Jitu Vaghani has ordered immediate action to implement this decision.
Under the guidance of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, the move aims to reduce reliance on conventional electricity sources and promote renewable energy like solar power. Vaghani emphasized that this initiative will cut electricity costs in government establishments and boost the use of clean energy. All relevant entities are required to submit proposals to the Gujarat Energy Development Agency within seven days for prompt execution.
This step aligns with a national effort to expand rooftop solar installations. Prime Minister Modi has urged a mission-oriented approach towards adopting rooftop solar in urban areas, residential complexes, and public institutions. This strategy targets cost savings on electricity and enhancing energy security. Additionally, the Prime Minister has advocated for measures to reduce fuel consumption and promote sustainable practices in response to global challenges.
