The Gujarat government has unveiled a 10-year plan for direct recruitments and the expansion of rural water supply. Minister Ishwarsinh Patel presented the detailed roadmap in the Legislative Assembly, emphasizing the state’s focus on enhancing administrative efficiency and providing essential services in villages. Responding to queries on government recruitment via the Gujarat Public Service Commission (GPSC), Patel expressed the state’s commitment to realizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of demographic dividend and offering youth opportunities in government service.
In the past two years, the General Administration Department has forwarded requisitions for 306 Class-1 and Class-2 posts to the GPSC, with 240 posts already undergoing preliminary and main examinations. Patel highlighted the government’s dedication to transparency and continuity through a 10-year recruitment calendar, aiming to conduct 2,10,582 direct recruitments from 2024 to 2033. Moreover, significant progress has been made in filling senior administrative positions, with a focus on ensuring justice for all segments of society, including persons with disabilities.
Furthermore, Patel detailed water supply projects in Bhavnagar and Amreli districts, including 12 “Improvement Group Water Schemes” in Bhavnagar benefiting 661 villages at a cost of Rs 438 crore. Notably, the Chorvadla Phase-2 scheme has enabled 14 villages to receive Narmada-based water. In Amreli, the Mahi-based Group Scheme will cover 39 villages and one town, with specific allocations for different talukas.
