The Gujarat government has escalated its relief and restoration operations in flood-affected districts following heavy rainfall. Senior BJP leaders inspected the recovery efforts, which included repairing damaged roads, reopening blocked highways, and conducting damage assessment surveys. Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi and Union Jal Shakti Minister C.R. Paatil visited the Navsari District Disaster Control Room to oversee the operations. District Collector Manish Gurwani briefed them on various rescue operations, evacuation procedures, relief shelter arrangements, and healthcare services provided to affected residents.
With floodwaters receding in low-lying areas, the administration has expedited damage assessment surveys to evaluate losses to crops, houses, and public property. The goal is to provide timely relief assistance to eligible affected residents as per state government guidelines. Restoration work, including cleaning operations, disinfectant spraying, health monitoring, and infrastructure repairs, is underway to restore normalcy in public life. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel acknowledged the support of volunteers, charitable organizations, and community leaders in aiding government agencies during the crisis.
In Tapi district, the damaged approach road and causeway at Dhangdhar in Dolvan taluka were swiftly restored after heavy rainfall and flood damage. The Roads and Buildings Department deployed emergency resources to reopen the road for motorists and pedestrians. However, in Morbi district, a causeway on the Mayurnagar-Raysangpar road was washed away, prompting authorities to close the route for safety reasons. The Surendranagar district administration reopened the Surendranagar-Dhrangadhra Highway after clearing a stranded trailer that was blocking traffic.
Efforts are ongoing to minimize transport disruptions during the monsoon season. In Dang district, landslides and road blockages caused by heavy rainfall were promptly cleared by the Roads and Buildings Department. The department mobilized emergency teams and machinery to ensure connectivity was restored swiftly. The public was advised to avoid unnecessary travel and exercise caution during heavy rain periods. Gandevi Municipality in Navsari district initiated a cash assistance survey in affected areas, with special teams conducting door-to-door data collection to distribute financial aid to eligible beneficiaries.
