With heavy rainfall and red alerts in various parts of Gujarat, the state government has activated the health department to ensure continuous medical services and sufficient medicine supplies in vulnerable districts. State Health Minister Praful Pansheriya led a high-level meeting to review emergency preparedness, focusing on medicine availability and healthcare facility readiness in all districts. Pansheriya emphasized the stocking of necessary medicines in every 108 ambulance service across the state to address potential water-borne diseases and insect bites during the monsoon season.
Contingency measures have been implemented to prevent medicine shortages in affected areas, with provisions to quickly source supplies from nearby Primary Health Centers or Community Health Centers if needed. Additionally, teams of doctors and paramedical staff are on standby round the clock at health centers. Special directives have been issued to districts under red alert, including Rajula taluka in Amreli and areas in the Saurashtra region, Surat, Navsari, Valsad, and neighboring districts in south Gujarat.
Despite the absence of any serious health emergencies in Gujarat currently, the state government remains vigilant, with health teams on alert across all districts. The review meeting, conducted as a precautionary measure, aimed to ensure citizen safety and address any healthcare system deficiencies promptly. As Gujarat faces continuous heavy rainfall and heightened monsoon activity, the Health Department has mobilized medical infrastructure, emergency ambulance services, and district health teams to respond to potential rain-related public health crises.
