Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel initiated Gujarat’s Pulse Polio immunisation campaign in Gandhinagar by providing oral polio vaccine drops to children, aiming to cover over 83.49 lakh kids under five years statewide. The campaign, part of the ‘Polio Eradication Programme’, will utilize 32,997 polio booths across Gujarat.
Under the supervision of 6,599 Health Department supervisors, 65,994 health teams are tasked with administering the vaccine to eligible children. The state observed June 28 as Polio Sunday, with vaccinations conducted at designated booths.
The campaign will extend to June 29 and 30, involving door-to-door visits by health workers to ensure children aged 0 to 5 years, who missed booth-based vaccination, receive the oral polio vaccine.
Launching the campaign, CM Patel administered polio drops to children alongside Minister of State for Health, Praful Pansheriya, symbolically inaugurating the statewide immunisation drive.
