Gujarat government spokesperson and Minister Jitu Vaghani stated that the local body election results in the state show a strong public backlash against what he termed as “misleading propaganda by opposition parties.” Vaghani, addressing a press conference post a Cabinet meeting, highlighted that the outcome signifies continued public faith in the state government’s policies led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel. He emphasized that voters have favored continuity in governance over change, as indicated by the election results.
Minister Vaghani shared that the BJP secured significant victories in the local body elections, with 89.75% of seats in municipal corporations, 81.83% in district panchayats, 75.76% in municipalities, and 70.19% in taluka panchayats. He noted an overall success rate of 74.96% across local bodies, showcasing widespread trust in the party across various sections of society.
Vaghani further detailed the electoral support across different communities, mentioning successful candidates from various groups like the Koli, Kshatriya, Dalit, Patel, Brahmin, Paliwal, Sindhi, Mali, Kardia Rajput, Maldhari, Prajapati (Kumbhar), and Luhar communities. He highlighted that the election campaign saw attempts by opposition parties to spread misinformation, particularly on issues like grain transportation and town planning schemes, which were effectively countered by the voters through their ballots.
