Member of Parliament Dhaval Patel from Valsad, Gujarat, alleged that the opposition INDIA bloc has significantly weakened following recent electoral events, leading to frustration for Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. Patel’s comments were in response to Gandhi’s accusations against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah during a rally in Raebareli, Uttar Pradesh. Gandhi labeled them as “traitors” who are undermining democratic institutions.
Patel highlighted that the INDIA bloc has fractured post-elections, with internal divisions becoming apparent. He specifically mentioned the distancing of major alliance partners like the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and the DMK from the coalition. Patel noted that the DMK had requested separate seating arrangements in the Lok Sabha, and the TMC had publicly distanced itself from the INDIA bloc.
The breakdown within the opposition alliance, according to Patel, has led to internal turmoil and reflects political discontent among its leadership. Referring to past statements by senior Congress leaders, Patel pointed out instances where derogatory remarks were made about Gujaratis and Prime Minister Modi. He emphasized that the repeated criticism of the government by the Congress party indicates a broader trend within its leadership.
Patel concluded by stating that the opposition’s lack of unity post-elections is evident, and attempts to distort the people’s mandate through statements or alliances will not succeed. He emphasized that the people’s choice is clear and should be respected.
