Gujarat Police have detained 609 illegal Bangladeshi nationals in Gujarat as part of ‘Operation Delta Hunt’. The arrests, including 161 men, 323 women, and 125 children, were made across various districts in the state. The largest number of detentions occurred in Ahmedabad City, followed by Surat City, Ahmedabad Rural, Bharuch district, and Kheda district.

The number of arrests has significantly increased under the operation, with figures rising from 362 to 568 in subsequent phases. Operation Delta Hunt involves a coordinated effort by district police units, crime branch personnel, cyber cells, and special operations groups. Authorities are using various methods like technical surveillance and document verification to identify foreign nationals living in the state without proper authorization.

Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi mentioned that the operation covers all parts of Gujarat and aims to take action against those involved in illegal settlement, employment, or accommodation. Many of the detained individuals were working in the informal labor sector, mainly in urban centers like Ahmedabad, Surat, and Vadodara. The police are continuing verification and legal procedures in accordance with the law to address illegal immigration networks.
