Gujarat Police Seize Liquor Worth Over Rs 48 Lakh in Prohibition Raid

The Gujarat Police’s State Monitoring Cell confiscated Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) and beer valued at more than Rs 48.35 lakh during a prohibition raid in Kutch district. The total worth of the seized items amounted to Rs 78.57 lakh, as per officials on Monday.

The operation, directed by Director General of Police (DGP) G.S. Malik, was part of the ongoing crackdown on illegal liquor and gambling activities across Gujarat. Led by Police Sub-Inspector K.D. Raviya, the raid took place at the parking area of Jai Goga Rajasthani Hotel in Gagodar village of Rapar taluka.

Around 500 cartons of IMFL and beer, totaling 13,500 bottles and valued at Rs 48,35,736, were recovered by the police. Additionally, including vehicles and other seized items, the total value of the confiscated property reached Rs 78,57,666. Two individuals were arrested at the scene, identified as Shravankumar Meghwal and Chenaram Jat.

The police have also named three wanted accused, including Narayan Jat, allegedly involved in dispatching the liquor consignment. A case has been registered at Gagodar Police Station under relevant sections of the Gujarat Prohibition Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. This seizure is part of a series of recent prohibition enforcement operations by the State Monitoring Cell.
