A state-level celebration of World Meditation Day, along with the convocation ceremony of yoga coaches and trainers of the Gujarat State Yoga Board, will be held at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar on Sunday. The event, starting at 2.30 p.m., will be chaired by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel. Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi, Minister of State for Youth Services and Cultural Activities Dr. Jayram Gamit, and Param Pujya Shri Shivkrupanand Swamiji, the founder of Himalayan Samarpan Meditation, will be present to guide the meditation session.
Organized jointly by the Gujarat State Yoga Board and the Himalayan Samarpan Meditation Trust, the program aims to unite citizens, institutions, thinkers, and leaders to provide a collective meditation experience, emphasizing its role in attaining mental peace, balance, and inner awareness. December 21 is recognized as World Meditation Day by the United Nations General Assembly to emphasize the significance of mindfulness and inner harmony in human life. Gujarat is planning a large-scale meditation program along with the convocation of yoga coaches and trainers trained by the State Yoga Board.
The Gujarat State Yoga Board has been actively promoting health and well-being among citizens by spreading yoga and meditation to every household. The upcoming program is a significant step in enhancing Gujarat’s spiritual and mental wellness movement, coinciding with December 21, which holds special spiritual importance as the shortest day of the year astronomically.
The event has two main goals: to observe World Meditation Day meaningfully and to formally introduce newly trained yoga coaches and trainers into the field, thereby strengthening yoga education across the state. Thousands of practitioners are expected to participate in a collective meditation session during the event, guided by Shivkrupanand Swamiji, to experience mental calm, inner energy, and spiritual connection.
Yog Sevak Shishpal, Chairman of the Gujarat State Yoga Board, has invited citizens, yoga enthusiasts, and meditation practitioners across the state to join the program and make the World Meditation Day celebration a memorable one.
