Gujarat’s Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel introduced the ‘Data Center Policy 2026-29’, aiming to position the state as a prime hub for data center investments. The policy launch, attended by Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi and other officials, underscores Gujarat’s commitment to aligning with the national digital economy vision. Patel credited collective efforts and public trust for Gujarat’s progress, echoing PM Modi’s governance model of inclusivity and development.
The Chief Minister emphasized the pivotal role of science and technology in national advancement under PM Modi’s leadership. He highlighted the significance of data as a fundamental element in the digital ecosystem, driving economic growth in India. Patel pointed out the surge in demand for top-notch digital infrastructure due to India’s expanding digital economy and advancements in AI, cloud computing, and electronics manufacturing.
India’s Chief Minister also mentioned incentives in the Union Budget to boost cloud and AI infrastructure, including a 20-year tax exemption for global data center operations. Gujarat, known for its proactive adoption of the Prime Minister’s development agenda, now gears up for future demands with a dedicated data center policy. Patel expressed confidence in Gujarat’s readiness to cater to the escalating need for data centers and fortify the state’s digital economy.
The Data Center Policy is designed to enhance cloud services, AI, digital transactions, e-commerce platforms, smart manufacturing, and digital governance in Gujarat. Patel highlighted the state’s robust infrastructure, reliable utilities, and flourishing technology ecosystem, positioning Gujarat as an ideal destination for digital investments. He underlined Gujarat’s progress in becoming a fintech hub, semiconductor manufacturing centers in Sanand and Dholera, and initiatives promoting innovation and sustainability.
