Gujarat’s tableau, themed ‘Swatantrata Ka Mantra: Vande Mataram’, secured the first place in the Popular Choice Award category at the 77th Republic Day parade in New Delhi. The tableau, showcasing India’s freedom struggle and Aatmanirbharta, garnered significant public attention during the national parade. The award, determined through public voting on the MyGov portal by the Union Ministry of Defence, saw Gujarat leading with 43% of the total votes.
Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel expressed pride in the tableau’s portrayal of patriotism and Gujarat’s freedom fighters, stating that the public’s support reflects their strong connection to the nation’s ideals. The tableau, crafted by the state’s Information Department, illustrated the evolution from the freedom movement to the present focus on self-reliance, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision.
Gujarat’s success in the Popular Choice category began in 2023 and continued with wins in 2024 and 2025, showcasing the state’s initiatives in renewable energy, tourism, and heritage. With this year’s victory, Gujarat has achieved four consecutive wins in the Popular Choice Award category. The award will be formally presented at the Republic Day concluding ceremony on January 30 in New Delhi.
