Mumbai, Aug 9 (IANS) Actress Gulfam Khan advised young women on how to deal with the constant pressure for marriage or motherhood from society.

Talking exclusively to IANS, Gulfam said that when faced with such a question, one should imagine their lives ten years from now, and make a choice that will lead to happiness in the future.

She was asked about the advice she would like to give young women who are facing pressure regarding marriage or motherhood.

In response, Gulfam told IANS, “Imagine yourself ten years from now. If the decision you’re making today will still make you happy and fulfilled after ten years, then make that decision confidently.”

She further suggested that as long as you are not hurting anyone, it is completely justified to live your life without any regrets.

“It’s your life. As long as you’re not hurting or taking advantage of anyone, live your life without regrets”, she went on to add.

She was further asked if she herself has faced any such questions concerning marriage and motherhood.

To this, Gulfam revealed that her family has always been extremely supportive and stands by her decisions.

“Personally, my family has always respected my decisions. My husband, my in-laws, and my siblings have always supported me”, she stated.

However, she added that despite the support from her close ones, she has faced peer pressure from her relatives, neighbours and friends.

“Yes, there’s peer pressure from relatives, neighbours or friends. But when your immediate family stands by you, outside opinions don’t matter much”, concluded the ‘Diya Aur Baati Hum’ actress.

Talking about her work, Gulfam is best known for her portrayal as Nazneen in the show ‘Aladdin – Naam Toh Suna Hoga’

Additionally, she has also been a part of other popular shows such as ‘Naamkarann’, ‘Laado 2’, and ‘India Calling’.
