India’s captain, Harmanpreet Kaur, made history by surpassing Suzie Bates to become the most-capped player in women’s international cricket during the second T20I against Australia. This milestone marked Kaur’s 356th international match for India, leading the all-time list of appearances in women’s cricket. She now tops the chart ahead of players like Ellyse Perry, Mithali Raj, and Charlotte Edwards.
Kaur, who debuted in 2009, boasts a career spanning across Tests, ODIs, and T20Is, with this match being her 189th T20I appearance. Known for her leadership and achievements, Kaur has led India to significant victories, including their first ODI World Cup win in 2025. Recently honored with the Padma Shri, she continues to shine in Indian cricket.
India, holding a 1-0 lead in the T20I series, secured a 21-run win over Australia in the first T20I, aided by Arundhati Reddy’s exceptional bowling performance. Reddy’s figures of 4-22 restricted Australia to 133 runs, despite resistance from Wareham, Litchfield, and Perry. India’s strong start, led by Verma and Mandhana, was interrupted by rain, resulting in a victory under the DLS method.
