The Haryana Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, has given the green light to significant changes in the Deen Dayal Lado Lakshmi Yojana of 2025. The amendments aim to bolster women’s financial empowerment and encourage long-term savings. Under the new plan, eligible women will receive a monthly benefit of Rs 2,100. However, starting from the second month, the assistance will be split into two parts.
The first part, Rs 1,100, will be directly credited to the beneficiary’s savings account, while the remaining Rs 1,000 will be placed in a government-operated recurring deposit (RD) or fixed deposit (FD) account. Upon maturity, the accumulated amount along with interest will be handed over to the beneficiary. The duration of the RD and FD will be determined by the government, not exceeding five years.
Additionally, the amendments introduce social development-linked eligibility criteria. Apart from income-based qualifications, mothers whose children excel academically in government schools or have shown progress under the NIPUN Bharat Mission will be considered eligible. Mothers who have successfully rehabilitated children from severe or moderate acute malnutrition will also be covered.
The scheme’s existing age and domicile criteria remain unchanged. The income threshold for the new criterion is extended up to Rs 1.8 lakh as per FIDR guidelines. Mothers with more than three children will not qualify under this category, aligning with the objectives of Viksit Bharat concerning socio-economic development and family size.
To ensure transparency and community involvement, the proposed changes include beneficiary validation through local self-governance bodies. Following initial verification, the list of beneficiaries will be shared with Gram Sabhas in rural areas and area sabhas or ward committees in urban regions for community-level validation. If any beneficiary is found ineligible during this process, financial aid will be discontinued.
The Deen Dayal Lado Lakshmi Yojana, launched on September 25, 2025, to enhance women’s social security in the state, has garnered approximately 10 lakh registrations within two months of its inception. The proposed amendments aim to transform the scheme from a cash assistance program into a comprehensive, outcome-focused initiative in line with the vision of Viksit Bharat.
The Cabinet has also given the nod to appoint Santosh Kumari, wife of late ASI Sandeep Kumar Lather, to a government job on compassionate grounds. She will be appointed as a PGT Mathematics teacher in the Campus School at Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak.
