Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini called on public representatives to actively support natural farming, emphasizing the need to prioritize certain issues over political differences. He stressed the importance of embracing natural farming and educating farmers about its advantages. The Chief Minister made these remarks during a special awareness program on natural farming held at the Vidhan Sabha in Chandigarh.
Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat, speaking at the event, highlighted the significance and benefits of natural farming. Chief Minister Saini welcomed the Governor, praising him as a beacon of inspiration for Indian culture, ethical values, and a holistic lifestyle. He commended Acharya Devvrat’s dedication to social service, education, and the promotion of natural farming among farmers nationwide.
Expressing concerns about current agricultural practices, the Chief Minister raised issues regarding the excessive use of pesticides and chemical fertilizers, which not only harm the environment but also impact human health negatively. He emphasized that Haryana, as an agricultural state, could greatly benefit from transitioning to natural farming, offering a sustainable and economical alternative to conventional methods.
Highlighting the success of a 180-acre natural farming model at Gurukul in Kurukshetra, developed under Acharya Devvrat’s guidance, the Chief Minister noted its reliance on traditional organic formulations like Jeevamrit, Ghanamrit, and Beejamrit made from cow dung and urine. This approach has proven to be a cost-effective farming technique, free from chemical inputs. The state has initiated its Natural Farming Scheme in 2022, with over 19,000 farmers participating and 12,000 already trained in natural farming practices.
