The 24th National Para Athletics Championships 2026 in Bhubaneshwar, Odisha, concluded with Haryana emerging as the overall champions, securing 95 medals in total, including 39 gold, 31 silver, and 25 bronze. Tamil Nadu and Gujarat secured second and third place, respectively, in the medal tally.
The championships, which witnessed participation from 1,460 para-athletes representing 28 states, along with teams from the Border Security Force (BSF) and the Services Sports Control Board (SSCB), featured competitions across 145 medal events. Haryana showcased dominance across track and field events.
In various events like the Men’s Discus Throw F11 and F51–F52–F53, athletes from different states clinched top positions. Notable performances included Haryana’s Monu Ghangas, Uttar Pradesh’s Ram Ratan Singh, and Gujarat’s Damor Tejalben Amaraji, among others.
The competition also saw exceptional displays in field events, with athletes like Haney from Haryana excelling in the Men’s Discus Throw F37. Track events highlighted talents like Gujarat’s Bhatt Rakeshbhai and Maharashtra’s Abhishek Babasa Jadhav, who secured gold in their respective categories.
Long-distance events witnessed remarkable feats by athletes like Saurabh Sharma of Himachal Pradesh and Haryana’s Ankur Dhama, who stood out in the Men’s 5000m T13 and T11, respectively. The championships celebrated outstanding performances from para-athletes across various states.
