HCL Tech launched its Global Technology Centre at Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City) on Friday. Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi praised the move, emphasizing the company’s focus on creating local job opportunities. Sanghavi commended HCL Tech for recruiting locally and collaborating with local partners, unlike other IT firms that often hire from different states.
The Deputy Chief Minister lauded HCL Tech’s ‘Come Back Home’ initiative, which encourages skilled professionals from Gujarat working in other cities or abroad to return for employment. The centre, currently operating with 100 employees, mainly consists of local Gujarati youth. Additionally, the facility features an advanced Artificial Intelligence Lab, described by Sanghavi as a significant advancement in technology.
Reflecting on GIFT City’s transformation from barren land to a global financial technology hub, Sanghavi credited the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He expressed optimism for HCL Tech’s future expansion in Gujarat beyond its current two-floor operation. Senior company officials and industry representatives attended the inauguration ceremony, along with young professionals.
