The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare is closely monitoring the Ebola Virus Disease situation after recent outbreaks in Africa. An individual with recent travel history from Uganda was isolated at a hospital in Bengaluru due to mild body ache symptoms. The person’s sample tested negative for Ebola.

Authorities are following World Health Organisation guidelines and maintaining surveillance to prevent the spread of Ebola in India. Screening and surveillance measures are ongoing at entry points and public health facilities. Officials urge citizens to rely on official sources for information and not spread misinformation.

The World Health Organisation Director-General warned that the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo may be larger than reported. The outbreak has seen 101 confirmed cases and 10 deaths, with more cases under investigation. Uganda has also reported new cases, including infections among healthcare workers.

Efforts are being intensified to trace contacts and prevent further transmission of the virus. Global health teams are working to identify infected individuals promptly.
