A health emergency unfolded in Gurua block, Gaya district, as more than 40 individuals became unwell post a Tilak ceremony in Dhana Bigha village. Attendees suffered symptoms like vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain after the event. The situation worsened rapidly, causing panic, with most affected persons receiving treatment at Community Health Centre Gurua and nearby clinics.
Health authorities acted promptly upon notification, dispatching ambulances for urgent patient transportation and immediate medical attention. Medical teams, led by Dr. Harendra Kumar and Dr. Nitish Kumar, diagnosed the cases as food poisoning. Notable patients include Sunita Devi, Premni Devi, Roshan Kumar, Anand Kumar, and others from Dhana Bigha village, all reported stable with no critical conditions.
Villagers suspect poor quality or contaminated food served at the ceremony as the cause of the illness. The Health Department has initiated an inquiry, planning to test food samples and assign accountability for the incident. Local residents demand strict measures against those accountable, while authorities assure ongoing monitoring to prevent recurrence and maintain community well-being.
