A fresh spell of heavy monsoon rain is hitting Rajasthan, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing Orange and Yellow Alerts for rainfall across the state. Several districts, including Sirohi, Jodhpur, Barmer, Pali, and Jalore, experienced heavy rain, with Mount Abu receiving 195 mm of rainfall. The Meteorological Department forecasts active monsoon conditions in Rajasthan until July 27, with a slight weakening expected from July 28.
Significant rainfall was recorded in various areas, such as Mount Abu (Sirohi) with 195 mm, Bapini (Jodhpur) with 81 mm, and Karanpur (Sri Ganganagar) with 66 mm. The recent rainfall has notably improved the state’s water situation after a delayed onset and prolonged dry spell during the early monsoon phase. Over 40 dams that were previously dry have now received water since July 2, with dams like Morel Dam in Dausa and Mansagar Dam in Tonk reaching full capacity.
The Jaipur Meteorological Centre Director, Radheshyam Sharma, anticipates heightened monsoon activity in parts of Udaipur and Jodhpur divisions for the next two days. Heavy to extremely heavy rainfall is expected in isolated areas, while moderate to heavy rainfall is also forecasted in regions like Bikaner, Ajmer, Kota, Jaipur, and Bharatpur divisions. Despite recent rainfall, concerns persist over the uneven distribution of monsoon showers, with only five districts receiving above-normal rainfall and others facing deficits.
Uneven distribution of monsoon showers remains a concern in Rajasthan, with only five districts receiving above-normal rainfall while others face deficits. Beawar, Bikaner, Didwana-Kuchaman, Phalodi, and Salumbar have received above-normal rainfall, while 12 districts like Dausa, Dungarpur, and Jaisalmer have faced lesser rains. Additionally, 27 districts have recorded below-average rainfall due to the delayed monsoon arrival and a prolonged dry spell mid-season.
