A deep depression in the Bay of Bengal has led to widespread rainfall in Tamil Nadu. The India Meteorological Department has issued heavy rain warnings for various districts. Villupuram, Cuddalore, Mayiladuthurai, and Theni are expected to experience heavy rainfall on Saturday.
On Sunday, Dindigul, Theni, Coimbatore, and the Nilgiris are likely to receive heavy showers. The IMD has also predicted cloudy skies and moderate rain in parts of Chennai for the next two days. The southwest monsoon is anticipated to begin over some regions within the next 24 hours.
Meteorologists expect the monsoon to arrive about five days earlier than usual this year. Recent rains brought relief from the summer heat but also caused damage and casualties in some areas. In Nagapattinam district, heavy rain was reported in several areas, with incidents of lightning strikes.
In Chengalpattu district, heavy rain and lightning led to unfortunate incidents, including a fatality. Several districts experienced widespread showers, resulting in cooler weather conditions. Farmers in various districts welcomed the rainfall, hopeful for improved agricultural activities in the near future.
