The India Meteorological Department issued a Red Alert for Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, and Raigad due to intense rain forecasts.
Heavy monsoon showers persisted in Mumbai and nearby areas, resulting in the declaration of a holiday for schools and colleges in Palghar. The relentless rainfall has tragically claimed four lives and left two others injured in various incidents. The upgraded Red Alert has put civic authorities in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region on high alert.
The continuous rainfall has caused chaos in Mumbai, with the eastern suburbs experiencing the highest precipitation. The BMC recorded significant rainfall in different parts of the city, with locations like Mitha Municipal School, S Ward Office, and Paspoli Municipal School receiving substantial amounts. In the western suburbs, areas like SWM Santacruz Workshop and Narialwadi School also faced heavy rainfall.
