The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) in Chennai has predicted heavy rainfall in 10 districts of Tamil Nadu on Tuesday. Additionally, the state may face uncomfortable weather conditions due to above-normal temperatures and high humidity levels. An upper-air trough from coastal Karnataka to coastal Andhra Pradesh is contributing to these weather patterns.
This atmospheric system is anticipated to increase rainfall activity in parts of Tamil Nadu throughout the day. The RMC has issued warnings for heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds up to 50 kmph in hilly regions like Tirunelveli district. Other districts like Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Dindigul, Theni, Kanniyakumari, Dharmapuri, Salem, and Erode are also expected to experience heavy rain.
Residents in these areas are advised to be cautious during thunderstorm activity and avoid unnecessary outdoor exposure during intense rainfall and lightning. While rain is expected in several districts, the weather department has highlighted the persistence of hot and humid conditions in parts of the state, with temperatures likely to be up to 3 degrees Celsius above normal.
