An atmospheric circulation over the southeast Bay of Bengal and its adjoining central parts is expected to bring widespread rainfall to Tamil Nadu in the upcoming days, as per the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) in Chennai.
The weather system is likely to result in heavy to very heavy rainfall in various districts of the state, with heavy rainfall anticipated today in districts such as Nilgiris, Erode, Salem, and others, as per the weather department.
Officials have cautioned residents in vulnerable areas to stay vigilant as heavy downpours could cause localized flooding and disrupt normal life. The weather department also forecasts isolated heavy rainfall in hilly regions of specific districts on May 26.
Despite the anticipated rainfall, maximum temperatures in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry are expected to remain largely unchanged, with temperatures hovering around normal levels. For Chennai, a partly cloudy sky with light to moderate rain is predicted during the evening or night hours, bringing relatively pleasant weather conditions to the city.
Authorities advise residents, especially in hilly and waterlogging-prone areas, to keep track of weather updates and take necessary precautions.
