The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) has predicted heavy rainfall in four districts of Tamil Nadu on Monday due to a low-pressure circulation affecting the state. Specifically, the hill areas of Coimbatore district, along with Nilgiris, Dindigul, and Theni districts, are expected to experience heavy rain, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds.
Moreover, moderate rainfall is anticipated in various other districts of Tamil Nadu, including Chennai, Chengalpattu, Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur, Ranipet, Vellore, Tiruchirappalli, Thanjavur, Pudukkottai, Namakkal, Erode, Salem, and Madurai. The prevailing atmospheric conditions are conducive to widespread rain activity, with scattered showers likely across the state throughout the day.
The RMC forecasts continued heavy rainfall on Tuesday in Coimbatore district and the Nilgiris, while other districts may experience light to moderate rain. In Chennai, partly cloudy skies are expected with moderate rainfall in some areas. The city is likely to see a maximum temperature around 39 degrees Celsius and a minimum of about 28 degrees.
Authorities advise caution to residents, especially those in hilly and low-lying regions, as heavy rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds could lead to local disruptions. Motorists are urged to be careful due to potential waterlogging and reduced visibility during intense rainfall. Disaster response teams are prepared in vulnerable areas, and residents near rivers, streams, and landslide-prone areas are advised to stay updated on weather alerts and safety instructions.
