Heavy rainfall in the past 24 hours has severely impacted Maharashtra, disrupting daily life in Mumbai, the Konkan belt, Central Maharashtra, and Vidarbha. The India Meteorological Department has forecasted continued downpours until July 6, leading authorities to issue a red alert for several districts, including Mumbai, Thane, and Palghar. Mumbai alone has already received 60% of its average monthly July rainfall in just the first three days of the month, resulting in widespread waterlogging and infrastructure damage.

In Mumbai, the Andheri Subway has been closed due to flooding, causing traffic diversions and delays. The local train network has also faced significant disruptions, with waterlogged tracks at Nalasopara station leading to delays and overcrowding. Neighboring districts like Dombivli and Mumbra have witnessed similar challenges, with markets and residential areas submerged under water, prompting safety concerns and power cuts by the state utility.

The heavy rainfall has not spared other regions, with areas like Navi Mumbai and Raigad district facing impassable roads and flooding in marketplaces. Landslides and mudslides have further complicated travel on ghat routes, urging caution among travelers. Concerns over rising water levels in rivers and inadequate water storage in dams have added to the state’s woes, prompting continuous monitoring and relief efforts by authorities.
